Port of Egersund, located in the scenic Dalane area in southwest Norway, has a quay length of approximately 4,500 meters, three ro-ro quays, and several weekly calls to the continent. The port is now taking steps to improve operational efficiency and environmental performance through a digital port management information system.
Tommy Bjellås, Port Director at Egersund Port, states:
We are working to promote sea transport as a mode of transportation while also facilitating efficient and safe port operations. The new system will enhance data sharing between our agents, terminals, and customers, for example, by providing agents with a digital window to communicate with our port.
The project includes:
The Port system will manage port calls from quay booking to service delivery, including invoicing and statistics, in one package. A native mobile application for dock workers will enable more coordinated service deliveries, and a port community system will simplify the process of booking quays and services. The port system integrates with the container system at the port, reducing manual work for both operators and the port. Port will be linked to the municipal financial system for easy invoicing, while a built-in data warehouse solution will ensure that strategic data is readily accessible for all stakeholders.
The project will also implement improved support for long-term leasing and quay area rental management.
Tommy Bjellås concludes:
With this new platform, not only will our ability to manage port calls improve, but it also supports our goals of delivering better and more efficient services to all our customers.
